Sacred places, such as cemeteries, deserve respect. Cemeteries bring together communities of the past and present. Special Angels was established to empower communities hoping to preserve their local cemeteries by connecting communities with cemetery experts. Together, we support your community's efforts to share your unique history with the next generation.
Are you a municipality in need of assistance? Special Angels understands the time and costs that are required to preserve and maintain marginalized cemeteries. We work with municipalities to develop and execute preservation and education programs by networking with local school districts, workforce initiative programs and organizations, local community activists, local historical societies, and local funeral homes. This allows for marginalized cemeteries to once again become active community spaces for gathering, education, and memorialization.
Meet The Team
Dr. Lisa Armstrong
Dr. Lisa Armstrong is the Director of Community Engagment for Special Angels Investments. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology with a concentration in Heritage Studies from the University of South Florida. Dr. Armstrong writes, researches, teaches, and speaks about socio-cultural nuances of race, gender, and intersectionality.
